A leather gaming chair is breathable, durable, easy to maintain, but expensive.
In imitation, it won’t be breathable, less durable, but less expensive and easy to maintain.
In fabric, it will be breathable, durable and affordable, but stains will be difficult to remove.
Having trouble deciding whether to buy a leather or fabric gaming chair?
Are you afraid of making the wrong choice?
I admit that it’s very complicated to know the differences between imitation, leather and fabric, and what this will mean for your future gaming chair.
Especially when you’re putting a lot of money into it…
That’s why you’re going to read me to the end, because I’m going to tell you all about real leather, imitation leather and fabric!
All that’s left for you to do is choose according to your preferences, lifestyle and budget.
If you’re too lazy to read and want to know what I recommend…
The fabric!
It’s the one that presents the least risk when you buy it, it’s breathable, soft, pleasant to the touch, its only problem is stains.
But if you want to know exactly why you should choose one over the other, stick with me.
Imitation leather is a synthetic material. In simple terms, it’s a plastic fabrication designed to imitate the look of leather.
There are different types of imitation leather in the family.
These include PVC leather, which is an imitation leather coated with polyvinyl chloride, and pu leather, which is coated with polyurethane.
For our purposes, most gamer chairs are made from pu leather.
So, after all that informational blather, what’s in it for you?
Its big advantage is that, if it’s well made, it will have a look that’s clearly “premium” and of the most beautiful effect, because it resembles real leather, BUT at a very honest price!
That’s how you can find a good, inexpensive gaming chair!
It’s also very easy to clean and maintain: a quick wipe with a little cream and virtually any stain will easily come off.
Its drawback, however, is that it’s not breathable, since it’s made of synthetic material and may make you sweat in summer.
It’s also important to choose carefully, because some poor-quality imitations end up cracking over the years.
It’s the most beautiful material, and no other can give such a polished, personalized look (no leather looks the same) as this material!
What’s more, it has practically nothing but advantages.
It’s a natural, breathable material, so there’s no risk of sweating in summer.
It’s just as easy to clean and maintain as imitation leather.
However, I recommend that you apply a cream a few times a year to nourish your leather, which is a natural material.
There’s no risk of leather cracking, it’s very strong and durable, making it THE most durable material for gaming chairs.
However, as you can imagine, to get all this, you have to pay the price.
And as you can see with the Noblechairs EPIC in leather…
One of the few gaming chairs to be made of leather and nappa leather – along with the Secret lab Titan Evo 2022 and a few other chairs in my top gaming chairs list, you’ve got to have the budget.
Fabric is a little less attractive and less premium than leather and imitation, but it has many other advantages.
First of all, it’s just as affordable as imitation leather.
Then, unlike imitation, it’s breathable and won’t make you sweat in summer, so there’s no risk of your back sticking to the seat.
And because it’s fabric, there’s no risk of it cracking over the years. So you’re sure of its strength and durability.
It requires NO maintenance.
Its real drawback is that if you stain the fabric… It’s going to be hard to get out, depending on the stain.
As for my recommendations, I’d like to recommend my comparison guide to help you choose the best fabric gaming chair.
💼 Leather:️ | Best of the best |
👞 Imitation: | Not breathable |
🧵 Fabric: | Best compromise |
👞 PU: | For the look |
To put it simply: leather is great, but too expensive…
Simili is a good compromise, but not breathable, fabric is great, but if you stain it, it’s hard to get rid of.
So if you’ve got the money, get a leather gaming chair, if you’re careful, get a fabric chair, otherwise get a leatherette chair!
