Thomas Langeliers: About my life as a gamer

Hi everyone, my first name is Thomas, I’m French and I’ve been a passionate gamer since I was a kid.

I’m passionate about computers, but above all I’m passionate about video games.

At the age of 3-4, I was already playing various video games such as Driver on the PS1 or Yoshi’s Island on the super NES!

These games mean a lot to me, because they’re the ones I grew up with.

As do many other titles such as Medievil, Donkey Kong, and you won’t believe this, but…

I’ve never been much of a Zelda fan!

I quickly became a huge fan of video games and started collecting them.

I had a very, very long period of console gaming, with of course a long period when I was a huge Call Of Duty addict, playing it 10-15 hours a day on the PS3.

My favorite was and still is Black Ops 2!

Zombies, online multiplayer and the arrival of league-ranked mode were a great joy for me.

I did a lot of LANs with friends on Call Of Duty and a few real competitions, and that’s when I started to taste the “pleasure” of sitting in a real gaming chair!

Before that, I’d been content to play on a garden chair or sometimes a living-room chair that I’d bring in front of the console or computer.

The comfort wasn’t great, but for me a chair was a chair.

Nor did I have enough money to afford a proper chair.

Especially since, once you’re on the Internet, the offer is far too big and it’s very difficult to know how to separate the wheat from the chaff…

They talk about high-resilience foam, cold foam and “comfortable” chairs, but for me it didn’t necessarily make sense, it was all a blur.

Nevertheless, when I was at LAN, sitting on a comfortable chair (usually you had to rent one) was really pleasant, but I wasn’t quite convinced yet.

So, for several years, I continued to play on lambda chairs.

Which didn’t particularly please my back, but I blamed it on a fault of my own.

(In addition to sitting on a bad chair, I was slouching, so I tried to convince myself that the root of the problem was simply my bad sitting position).

Then came the day when I got into MMORPGs and PC gaming!

At first I used a low-powered PC, which was generally sufficient for the few MMORPGs I played.

These included World Of Warcraft, and LastChaos in the early days, but I ended up wanting more.

After spending a lot of money on my set-up, I thought buying a gaming chair might be a good idea.

And not all that expensive compared to the price of the set-up!

For some time now, I’d been unable to find a proper sitting position on my lambda chairs, and I often found myself sitting in positions where I was half slouched/leaning over them.

I finally decided it was time to try and solve the problem.

What’s more, I’ve heard that when it comes to anything to do with your back, you don’t feel the ill effects of sitting badly at first, but long afterwards.

Well, to tell you the truth, I think I’ve had that problem.

At first, my back didn’t hurt much in my garden chair, but little by little, over the years, my back began to hurt, and then it started to get stronger and stronger…

So I started scouring the internet for a decent gaming chair that would be comfortable without breaking the bank.

It was super complicated, and at first I didn’t really understand anything.

I really got the impression that the sellers didn’t bother to describe their products, and it was super complicated to determine why a chair would be “good” or why it would be “bad”.

Obviously, I wasted a lot of money buying chairs that did nothing for my comfort…

I remember a chair where I was leaning on the right armrest, and if I got into a “normal” sitting position, my back would hurt like hell after 30 minutes-1 hour of playing.

It’s easy to be fooled into thinking you’re buying a good chair just because you’re paying for it, but that’s not always true: sometimes you’re paying a lot for something that isn’t very good.

Sometimes you’re just paying for the brand (this isn’t always the case with cheap gaming chairs, but you have to choose them carefully).

However, there are also what I call “little gems” – they’re very hard to find and rare, but the value for money is unbeatable.

Often it’s the brands that don’t bother spending huge sums on advertising/marketing and want to focus on customer satisfaction.

Getting back to the chair I was talking about, I ended up giving that chair away, and bought another one, this time it wasn’t as sturdy and it didn’t last long…

Before it was completely chipped, with the fake leather tearing off (although I took very good care of it) and on top of that I also felt uncomfortable sitting on it…

It was a total mess.

At that point, I really felt like I was throwing my money away, and for nothing at that.

So I started buying gaming chairs on a temporary basis, just long enough to review them and decide on THE chair that would suit me best.

Through this site, I hope to share my discoveries with you and help you invest in a good gaming chair.

And for those of you who’d like to know, YES, I’ve finally found a chair that suits me perfectly in every way.

For those who have read this far, it’s the Noblechairs Epic, which I bought in nappa leather.

A real pleasure both for the eyes (beautiful leather) and for the back.

Nevertheless, Secretlab is my new favorite.

How I create my content

All the content of this site has been planned and written by myself to satisfy my “perfectionist” side – I prefer to write everything myself rather than outsource the work!

As far as possible, before publishing a review, I try to get my hands on the product to scrutinize it.

However, this isn’t always possible, so sometimes I check out all the reviews available on the product to note its strengths and weaknesses.

I also spend a lot of time in stores talking to the managers of chair stores that sell gamer-oriented chairs.

This also allows me to see the products, touch them and form a complete opinion on the subject.

In short, I want this to be a site you can trust.

I don’t want it to be a partnership site, or sponsored by any brand that comes and gives me chairs so that I can give a generous review of their brand.

No, I want this site to help you find the right information and make the best choice for your interests.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to say that if you need specific information, help, or anything else related to the world of gaming chairs…

Don’t hesitate to contact me using the contact form at the bottom of the site.

I’ll be happy to help!

Why Should You Read Me?

If you need a totally unbiased site (if a chair sucks, I won’t hesitate to say so) to help you find a suitable chair, you’ve come to the right place!

What’s more, if you agree with me on these points, you’ll agree with the way I write:

  • You want to be able to enjoy long gaming sessions while still feeling comfortable when you’re sitting in your chair.
  • You want to know more about the different chairs on the market.
  • You want reviews based on user experience, not a sales page.
  • You’re environmentally conscious (I am) and don’t like wasting resources (chairs are one of them, and making a chair means polluting our beautiful earth).

So, by helping you choose your future chair, it’s highly likely that you’ll be able to keep it for years to come, rather than having to change it!

Which also satisfies my “green” side!

To consume less, and above all to consume better, is my credo.
