The Aerone Platinum Series Void Black is the brand’s largest, top-of-the-range gaming chair.
With the exception of its big sister, the Diamond, which has an extra footrest.
The key thing you’ll discover throughout this review is that the Aerone Platinum is both high quality, suitable for grown-ups and affordable.
It’s not every day you get to see a gaming chair with :
All at an extremely affordable price – and it’s French, too!
Well, of course, if you put twice the price on the Aerone, you’ll be able to get something better, but I’m talking about a truly unbeatable price.
I had a bit of trouble finding this brand, not being available on Amazon and the like, but I have to say it’s a great find!
I imagine that centralizing everything in their own online store saves them from having to pay too many fees and allows them to offer you unbeatable prices.
So who’s going to complain? I’m not!
Ps: I know you’re keen to take a look at the features, but stick with me for another ten minutes or so, I’ve got a lot to tell you that’s worth the detour!

The problem when you’re big is that gaming chairs cost an arm and a leg.
And understandably so, since the chair has to be sturdier, bigger and more generously dimensioned.
The Aerone Platinum has solved this problem, however, because its generous dimensions and deep seat make it perfect for tall gamers.
But for all that…
The price remains reasonable and the features are there.
So I’d recommend the Aerone Platinum if :
If this applies to you, you’ll be very happy with the Aerone Platinum.
On the other hand, if your budget is twice as high…
Of course, you can get more for your money, and in that case I suggest you take a look at my ranking of the best ergonomic gaming chairs.
Secondly, if you’re a small person, I wouldn’t recommend it, as your knees may come up against the edge of the seat.
Worse still, as the wheels are large and the chair high, you won’t touch the ground.
That’s right, this one’s for grown-ups only!
So I highly recommend it if you’re between 1.80 and 2.10 metres tall!
As far as maximum weight is concerned, you’re on the safe side – it can support up to 200kg.

The Aerone Platinum features high-density 35kg/m3 foam.
High-density foam is a must, especially for a gaming chair aimed at large players.
Because large gamers generally also mean heavy gamers, so you need a fairly high density so that the foam doesn’t sag.
The denser the foam, the less likely it is to sag, and so it will always regain its shape to ensure you sit as comfortably as on day one.
On the Aerone Platinum, you have a density of 35kg/m3 which is good, you’re on high density, but there’s better, I think 50kg/m3 would have been perfect.
After all, I have to be impartial and put this information into context. At that price, it’s still very good, given the Aerone’s other features.
As for comfort, I’d describe the seat as a happy medium between firmness and softness!
You’ll feel well supported without sinking into the chair, which is perfect for many hours of seated gaming.
Ideally, if you’re looking for a gaming chair and you’re a big gamer, the side cheeks of the bucket seat shouldn’t be too pronounced.
Because pronounced cheeks can quickly get in the way if you’re a bit too big.
As you can see from the photo, the side cheeks on the backrest are not too pronounced.
This gives you a minimum of support while allowing you to move freely, whatever your size!
If you spend many hours sitting down and playing various video games, you need at least an off-center rocking mechanism.
I’ve seen a lot of 200e gaming chairs from one particular brand with off-center rocking mechanisms…
And for regular gaming, it’s far from top-notch.
Fortunately, the Aerone Platinum features an off-center rocking mechanism.
This brings you several advantages.
Firstly, you’ll be able to keep your feet on the ground at all times.
As the tipping point is at your knees and not in the center of the chair, your feet will remain on the ground throughout the tipping process.
This is particularly beneficial for blood circulation in your legs.
So for those of you who regularly experience leg problems during gaming sessions, now you know where it comes from!
This mechanism also limits the pressure on your hips as you move around on the chair.
In short, it’s infinitely more ergonomic than a centered rocker!
There are different types of gas springs, and you should know right now that class 4 is the best available.
By now, I’m sure you’re wondering “what’s the point of a gas spring?”
Well, it’s the reason your chair rises so smoothly, and its class is also a testament to its sturdiness.
In short, a solid gas spring that raises your chair properly!
As for the 60mm, this refers to the fact that the jack can rise 6cm.
I had wondered whether a 10cm jack would have been better or not, but given that the chair is already high even without being mounted…
A 10cm gas strut would have been superfluous even taking into account the fact that this chair is made for big gamers!
So another good point for the Aerone Platinum.
I was delighted to discover that the Aerone base is made of steel and not nylon!
The strength of steel is far greater than that of nylon bases.
And that’s important, since this chair is going to be used by tall people.
So that’s a good point, but for the price it’s quite rare to find steel chair legs.
However, there are even sturdier materials like aluminum, but these can only be found on very expensive gaming chairs.
The value for money is therefore excellent in this respect.
The rest of the chair (its skeleton) is also made of steel, which is important for the chair’s strength and durability.
But that’s a rather more common feature!
But this is a far less common feature in this price range…
Generally speaking, at this price you’d be entitled to 2D armrests, or even 3D if you’re lucky, but the Aerone Platinum is one of those rare chairs with 4D armrests!
And for those of you wondering what the point is, I’ll explain in a few lines.
4D armrests are important because they can be adjusted:

And as for touchability and ease of cleaning, each armrest is covered with a layer of polyurethane, giving it a pleasant feel!
Although quite common, as most gaming chairs have a rather similar design, since they all start from a bucket seat…
The Aerone Platinum’s design, however, has a modern, well-crafted feel.
The black seat with red stitching contrasts superbly and adds a more striking effect to the gaming side of the chair.
The armrests are particularly aesthetically pleasing and fit in well with the overall look of the chair.
The small details have also been carefully thought out.
For example, you’ll find the Aerone logo beautifully embroidered on the top of the backrest, but also on each of the two cushions.
The Aerone Platinum features a high-quality faux-leather covering.
By this I mean that it’s not fragile, and even with a little abuse it hasn’t moved, and won’t flake off over time.
Its only flaw for my taste, but it’s really because I’m quibbling and given the price it’s normal, is that it wrinkles in certain places.
But that doesn’t change its comfort or its lifespan.
Now, what are the advantages of imitation leather?
Imitation leather is recommended for people who tend to eat/drink on their chairs (and you’re probably not a gamer if you don’t do that)…
And why is that?
Well, because unlike a fabric gaming chair, imitation is easy to clean: just wipe it down and you’re done.
On the other hand, if you tend to sweat, as imitation is not a breathable material by default, you’ll probably sweat a bit more in summer.
And last but not least, you’ve got to admit that a nice leatherette looks much more premium than any fabric gaming chair…
Absolutely essential for perfectly ergonomic seating: the neck cushion and the lumbar cushion!
The neck cushion allows you to keep your head in a “neutral” position.
Particularly important when you see most gamers on Twitch with their heads bent forward.
The lumbar cushion provides support for the lumbar region (lower back) by reproducing the natural curvature of your back.
Without it, you’ll be in pain very quickly.
You can remove it, but I wouldn’t recommend it, otherwise you’ll end up playing with a totally rounded back and breaking your back in the long run.
Then there’s a feature that surprised me so much I wasn’t expecting it.
In fact, I wouldn’t have commented on it if it hadn’t been there, because that would have been normal, so it’s clearly a bonus…
And that’s that… The cushions are memory foam!
This is extremely rare, and really adds to the comfort.
I’ve taken the back of the chair for you to see that, overall, there’s nothing to fault about the finish, even on the back of the chair…
However, there is a little to complain about, but that’s because I want to tell you everything (even if it doesn’t bother you in the least and isn’t noticeable)…
Under the seat, I had a small section of imitation leather that bothered me a little when fitting the left armrest.
It doesn’t change anything in use, but at least you know!
As for the seams, they’re even and clean all over the chair.
So in terms of durability, I doubt there’s any likelihood of a problem here.
The first thing I noticed when I saw the castors was that they’re colossal, and their dimensions are truly out of the ordinary.
There’s no doubt about it, this is a gaming chair for big people!
When in use, they’re as quiet as expected, and it’s rare enough to note that you can lock the wheels.
I found this extremely practical, because when I’m gaming, I tend by some strange force to end up further away from the desk than I’d like to be.
At least that hasn’t happened to me any more.
The only downside is that as they’re huge, they tend to gather dust even more easily.
But apart from that little detail, nothing to report!
For those who love naps… you’re in for a treat!
The backrest can be tilted up to 170°, which corresponds to a virtually reclined position.
So whenever you need to wait for a download, or have time to watch a series, it’s a great advantage to be able to sit on your chair as if you were in bed!
What’s more, the backrest is adjustable along its entire length, so you can find the orientation that suits you best.
There’s nothing more annoying than having to get up from the seat to adjust the chair…
Fortunately, the adjustments are right under the seat and within easy reach.

Assembly was easy, and although the guide is basic and not particularly aesthetic, it’s easy to understand and will enable you to assemble your chair without a hitch!
Delivery was fast and smooth, everything was well packed and I had no problems whatsoever.
