I know why you’re here! You’re here because, like me, you’ve realized that a fabric gaming chair far surpasses a simili chair!

And for good reason: fabric is more resistant, doesn’t crack over time, doesn’t make your back stick to the chair in summer, etc.

The problem?

There are a lot of fabric gamer chairs out there, and not all of them are worth a damn.

My solution?

I’ve come up with a superbly detailed top 5 that you’re going to be able to read right now, so stay hooked because you’re going to learn a lot!

Secretlab Titan Evo: The best fabric gaming chair

chaise gaming en tissu noir.jpg

If you’re looking for the BEST gaming chair, you’ve come to the right place.

This model has absolutely everything you need for a very comfortable and ergonomic fabric chair, let me explain:

  • It has 4D armrests, so you can adjust them in height (to relieve the pressure on your shoulders) width (to suit your shoulder width) depth (by moving them back, you can get a little closer to the desk for slim physiques) and angle (nobody plays with their arms straight out, do they?).

So it’s perfect for adapting the chair to your posture.

  • It’s equipped with high-density cold foam, which not only enhances your comfort and adds breathable pores to the foam (for even less summer sweating)… You get a foam that will last a long time, because it won’t flatten out over time: high-density foam quickly regains its shape.

So it’s a good long-term investment, as the foam will last for years.

  • Lumbar support INTEGRATED into the chair, adjustable in volume and height. This means you can adjust the thickness and height of the lumbar support to suit YOUR morphology, respecting the natural S-shaped curve of your back so you don’t suffer. The other advantage of not having a cushion is that at least it won’t move around, and won’t be a hassle to put back on every time it moves, and so on.

This is a real plus in terms of ergonomics, as you’ll be able to adjust the lumbar support perfectly and avoid back pain (or simply benefit from greatly improved comfort).

  • An off-center rocking mechanism (very important to have a rocking mechanism to allow your muscles to move despite the sitting position). This will enable you to keep your feet on the ground throughout the tilt, alleviate pressure on your hips and improve blood circulation in your legs to avoid the heavy legs effect.

These are small details, but after 4 hours of play, the off-center rocker mechanism makes all the difference, so you’ll be able to play longer, without pain.

  • A tilt of up to 165°, which corresponds to an almost fully reclined position. So you’ll have plenty of leeway to find the angle that suits you best, or watch a short stream in “rest” mode!

This is excellent for adjusting the chair much more extensively and finding the recline that suits you best (whatever the situation).

  • Secretlab’s special Softweave plus fabric. If you’ve come for a gamer chair made of fabric, you’re in for the best. This fabric even has the advantage of being more than 3x more breathable than lambda fabric… But that’s not all… It’s also softer and more resistant, for the most comfortable, long-lasting seating possible. A real long-term investment.

You see, that’s a lot of qualities… And some of these options, like the integrated lumbar support with adjustable height and width, are not available on any other gamer seat…

And… Did you think I’d finished? Not at all:

  • An ACD12 aluminum cross-leg, the strongest available to withstand pressures of several hundred kg (or even 1 ton).
  • A magnetic headrest (a first for a gaming chair…) which means it simply holds on to the chair without the need for fasteners (and having tested it, it holds really VERY well). What’s more, it’s memory foam, which means it’ll adapt perfectly to you, improve blood circulation and relieve pressure points.

And finally, one of the most important things in my opinion… It’s available in a range of sizes to fit your body perfectly:

  • Size S if you’re under 1M69 and weigh a maximum of 90kg.
  • Regular if you’re between 1m70 and 1m90 and weigh less than 100kg.
  • Size XL if you’re between 1m81 and 2m05 for 80 to 180kg.

Now you know everything. I found it so good that it’s also in my top list of the best gaming chairs.

Quersus Vaos 505: The best value for money

quersus vaos 505.jpg

This is the gaming chair with the best value for money.

Because although it’s attractively priced, the settings don’t fall short – quite the opposite, in fact.

Like its predecessor, it also has 4D armrests, which are the ultimate in ergonomics.

You can adjust their height, ideally so that when you rest on them, your arms form a 90° angle.

This will relieve tension in your shoulders and increase your comfort.

You’ll also be able to adjust the width of the armrests to suit your build – no two people are the same, and if your elbows don’t reach the armrests… Well, there’s no point in having them!

They’re also angle-adjustable, so you can adapt them to your position. For example, when you’re playing the keyboard, the keyboard is usually a bit tilted, so it’s ideal to tilt the armrest too!

I find it practical to put them as far back as possible, so I can get closer to my desk without the armrests getting stuck.

The foam is high-density cold foam, so there’s no risk of it sagging over time either.

No, you’ll be able to enjoy your seat just as it was on day one, even years later.

There’s also built-in lumbar support (very important for your back, it needs to be curved at lumbar level, otherwise you’ll suffer).

However, this is only adjustable in depth (so you can increase the volume).

But that’s all, so it’s a bit of a hassle to adjust it to your size, although Quersus offers different sizes…

And if you’re REALLY interested in buying a quersus…

I recommend that you read my ranking of the best Quersus gaming chairs, which explains which model to choose according to your height.

Because the lumbar cushion is not height-adjustable, it’s all the more important to choose the right size, so you get a chair with the right dimensions.

The tilting mechanism is a synchronous tilting mechanism, which tends to be better than that of the Secretlab, because the backrest and seat tilt at different angles.

This is much more respectful of your body’s movements.

The tilt is a little less good, as it goes up to 140°, which corresponds to a seated position leaning back, but not lying down.

That’s enough for a short streaming break in relax mode, but no more.

Then there’s the QRS Soft fabric, created by Quersus and renowned for its softness, durability and breathability.

What this means for you: no sweating in summer, softness and durability.

(Be sure to choose the V505, which also has a hydrophobic fabric! And that’s important, because I’m a gamer and I drink/eat on my desk, so on the chair…)

Finally, the base is made of aluminum, which is the best material for a sturdy, resistant base.

But the neck cushion isn’t memory foam (it’s normal foam) and attaches around the top of the backrest.

In short, I think you’ll agree with me: you can indeed have better, but when you look at its price, and all it already does, it’s almost unbelievable.

The DXRacer Robas Lund 5: For DXRacer quality

robas lund dxracer 5.jpg

Specifically, I’m only putting this one on because some people swear by DXracer.

However, you can get much better in this price range.

Firstly, to save you reading all about it for nothing, this chair is designed for gamers from 1m55 to 1m75, so if you’re really tall, it’s a goner!

As for the features, I’m already sad to see that it only has height-adjustable armrests.

That’s the minimum required, but the quality/price ratio isn’t crazy at all.

You’ll be able to adjust them to your arms so as to achieve the famous 90° angle, but that’s all.

You lose the width, angle and front-to-back adjustment that’s so useful for the reasons I’ve already mentioned.

Fortunately, however, it’s still DXRacer, so the foam is high-density and won’t flatten like Homer’s sofa after a few months’ use – phew!

There’s no built-in lumbar support compared to previous chairs.

Here, you’ll have to make do with a physical lumbar cushion (with all the risks and inconveniences this entails, e.g. it moves around a lot and has to be replaced frequently).

And since you can’t adjust the volume, you’d better hope it fits well and isn’t too big for your size.

Note that you’ll also get a neck cushion, which is optional but important because it helps you keep your neck in a “neutral” position.

It’s basically the same as for your back, helping you to avoid neck pain caused by having your head in the wrong position.

The tilting mechanism is a centered tilting mechanism (the most basic available).

In other words, the tilt takes place at the center of the chair, so in addition to being the least ergonomic tilt, your feet will lift off the floor with each tilt, and you’re likely to end up with heavy legs (since this doesn’t help blood circulation).

Then there’s the fact that, despite being made of fabric, this gamer’s chair still has a flaw compared to the others.

The tilt only goes up to 134°.

That’s the lowest tilt of the comparison, but honestly, it’s still decent.

There’s more than enough room for you to find a good sitting position, and to rest in a seated/reclined position.

Where it gets interesting is that the fabrics used by DXRacer are breathable and won’t make you sweat in summer.

As well as being soft and pleasant to the touch, they’re also very durable and well made, with super-clean seams and finishes.

On the other hand, the foot cross is made of nylon, which is the least resistant, but that can be justified since nylon already withstands 100-200kg of pressure.

And this chair is aimed at physiques weighing less than 100kg.

The Oversteel Ultimet: The cheapest fabric gaming chair

oversteel ultimet fabric gaming.png

So, if you’re looking for a cheap gaming chair in fabric… You’re in for a treat.

Although it’s very attractively priced, it has a huge number of adjustments that are very rare to find in this price range.

For a start, the armrests are adjustable in 2 dimensions, which is great considering the price.

More precisely, they can be adjusted from top to bottom, i.e. in height, so you can take the strain off your shoulders by resting them on the armrests.

This adds comfort, because otherwise you may feel your shoulders “pulling” – you’ve probably felt it before.

They’re also adjustable for rotation, which I think is great, because when I’m playing with a keyboard and mouse, as much as I tend to have the arm that holds the mouse straight, the arm that holds the keyboard is often a little more…

The arm that uses the keyboard is often tilted inwards, and it’s great to be able to tilt the armrest too, so everything’s aligned.

The foam is, you’ll be delighted to hear, high-density foam!

So even though it’s affordable, the foam won’t end up flattened like the foam in a bad mattress.

No, no, even if you play 5-6 hours a day, it will return to its original shape, and that’s very important.

Otherwise, you might as well not buy a chair if you’re going to change it and end up paying a lot of money.

Then, well, you can’t have everything when you want to save money, so you’ll have to make do with the cushions on offer.

There’s the lumbar cushion, which must be placed in the lower part of your back to preserve the roundness of the lumbar region.

Without it, you’ll be in real pain.

And then there’s the neck cushion, more optional, to keep your neck in a neutral position so you don’t get neck pain.

It’s best when you have a chair with built-in lumbar support, but these chairs cost twice as much.

The tilting mechanism is also rather basic here, as it’s a centered tilting mechanism.

So your feet will tend to lift off the floor when you use the rocker, because the rocker is in the center of the chair.

Not great for leg circulation, but that’s to be expected in this price range.

In any case, never, ever block the tilting mechanism, because that’s what allows your body to release pressure (basically, it’s not ALWAYS the same muscles that are working).

On the other hand, the inclination of the backrest is the maximum possible: 180°.

So, as well as having plenty of leeway to find the seating position that suits you best, you can also use it as a bed.

The fabric (since that’s what you came for) is of very good quality, and I have no complaints about it.

It’s not up to the level of Secretlab’s Softweave plus or Quersus’ QRS Soft, but you’ll be happy with it.

It’s soft and sufficiently breathable.

On the other hand, as you might expect, the foot cross is made of nylon.

Here again, I’m not surprised – it’s quite normal.

It’s not the most resistant, but it’s justified.

IWMH: Only if you need a footrest, otherwise NO

footrest gaming chair fabric

I’ve included this one because it’s a good fabric gamer chair with a footrest.

But really, unless you absolutely must have a footrest included with your chair…

I strongly recommend that you take the previous chair and buy a footrest separately.

Why would I do that?

Well, because I’m not here to make you spend a fortune, and by doing so you’ll gain more in terms of settings/comfort, plus you’ll save money.

You’ll find that you lose out in terms of settings:

  • The armrests are height-adjustable only. You’ll be able to adjust them to the height of your elbows, but nothing more. You lose quite a bit in terms of adjustability.
  • There’s no information on the density of the foam. It seems to be a high-density foam that shouldn’t sag, but I’m impartial: nothing is written.
  • There’s no built-in lumbar support, but you do get cushions, and they’re well padded with high-density foam. It’s very important to have at least some cushions, otherwise your back will tire too quickly and you won’t be able to sit for long.
  • The rocking mechanism is a centered mechanism (the most basic). Some chairs don’t have one, so it’s still fine, but it has the disadvantage of making your feet lift off the floor when tilting, and weighing down your legs.
  • The backrest can be tilted up to 135°, which is nice but not much more than a backward sitting/sitting position, so you can at least take advantage of the footrest.
  • On the other hand, the fabric is of very good quality, breathable and solid.

As for the materials used, here too we’re talking about a nylon foot cross.

This is the least noble material.

As you can see, the only real interest in buying this fabric chair is its footrest.

True, the footrest is very nice and pleasant to use, but is it really worth it?

Personally, I don’t think so.

Gamer fabric seats FAQ

I think there are some questions you’re still asking, so I’ll answer them right now:

Why choose a gamer chair in fabric rather than imitation leather?

The advantages of a fabric gamer chair are manifold.

First of all, it’s a natural, highly breathable material.

So you won’t end up with your back stuck to the back of the chair in summer because of perspiration.

The fabric is also softer and the contact with the skin is very pleasant.

Secondly, the fabric is maintenance-free.

On the other hand, although the fabric can be washed, it is easy to stain and, depending on the nature of the stain, can be difficult to remove.

So it’s best to opt for a black fabric chair, which will save you a lot of trouble.

For its part, imitation leather is nice, as it gives the chair a premium look.

However, it’s absolutely essential that it’s of high quality, otherwise it’s likely to crack and look awful after a few years.

Then, in summer, you’re almost certain to sweat and have traces of your body on the back and seat of the chair.

The only real advantage of imitation is that if you get a stain on it, just wipe it off with a wipe and it’s usually gone.
