The Empire Gaming 700 is a gaming chair in a rather special segment of the market.
In fact, the aim with this chair is to achieve a high-quality, comfortable chair with multiple settings that is still accessible.
If you’re fed up with your current chair, have a bad back, or just don’t feel comfortable sitting down…
If you want quality without a huge budget, the gaming empire 700 is for you.
The empire gaming 700’s desire for quality and affordability has a whole history behind it.
Not finding what they wanted on the market, they came up with the idea of creating their own brand.
Here’s how this iconic gaming chair came into being.
Stay tuned, because I’ve got a lot to tell you!
Sommaire
The target market is particularly gamers who are used to…
Sitting down for a bunch of hours a day to play on the computer, console, or even both and telecommute.
It’s ideal for fairly intensive use.
If, on the other hand, you’re an occasional gamer, save your money and go for a budget gaming chair.
Size-wise, this chair is renowned for adapting easily to most heights…
Even 1m90, just be careful not to exceed 120kg.

What does this mean in concrete terms?
It means that the chair has been designed with durability in mind.
Indeed, the main advantage of high density is…
Over time, it won’t collapse.
Which means it won’t regain its shape, leaving you with a really uncomfortable seat.
With the Empire Gaming 700, there’s nothing to worry about.
As for the comfort of the seat, I have nothing to complain about.
I’d describe the seat as rather firm, which is perfect for avoiding or resolving back problems.
One of the main advantages of bucket seats is their side bolsters, which ensure that you’re always securely fastened to the seat and feel “wedged in”.
The problem is…
Sometimes manufacturers overdo the side bolsters, and you feel cramped and trapped in the seat.
You’ll see for yourself that the gaming 700 empire has taken care of this problem by not overdoing the side bolsters.
So whether your shoulders are short or long, you’ll feel properly supported.
The same goes for the seat.
If you compare it with other seats, you can see that a great effort has been made to adapt to a wide range of morphologies by not setting the seat too high.
I tend to notice a very annoying thing among most of my gamer friends…
Those who have a chair with a rocking mechanism don’t use it, because they don’t know what it’s for.
It’s what allows the backrest of your chair to follow the movements of your back, taking the strain off your back and lumbar region.
If you constantly block it from your chair…
You’ll end up in pain from being too upright and putting all the pressure on your lumbar vertebrae.
So I recommend that you don’t block the rocking mechanism.
(I’ll explain how at the end of the review).
This is a great asset, and is what often sets apart office chairs that were designed to spend long hours sitting, and…
Office chairs that don’t have a rocking mechanism, which are more suited to short periods of play.
What’s more, you can adjust the degree to which the backrest follows your movements by means of a knob on the underside of the seat.
The best cylinder class is class 4.
And guess what?
That’s what the gaming 700 empire is equipped with.
The actuator is what gives your chair its power, its strength, basically what makes it go up and down correctly.
It’s a great way to get an idea of the chair’s attention to detail and possible durability.
Once again, we can say that the chair is sturdy and built to last, because the frame…
So the materials that make up the chair (underneath the pieces of leather, which you can’t see) are made of metal.
This is a great point for durability, as metal is both a light and very tough material.
Where I was once again delighted was that…
The foot cross of the Empire Gaming 700 is also made of metal!
This is clearly not the case with most gaming chairs, which normally have a nylon base.
This may leave us questioning the sturdiness of the cross-leg, but in this case it’s made of metal.
So that’s a very good thing, which I usually only see on very high-end gaming chairs.
The armrests on the empire gaming racing 700 gaming chair can be adjusted up and down, then right to left and left to right.
For me, the ability to adjust their height is the bare minimum you can ask for.
That is, unless you have a height-adjustable desk…
The armrests will enable you to adjust them perfectly well to the size of your desk, or to your position if you play more at the console than at the computer.
The possibility of adjusting them from right to left, especially allows you to follow the curvature of your arm, which…
When you’re playing a computer game or holding a joystick, your arm is never completely straight, but…
Rather, it’s drawn inwards (to hold the joystick, or mouse and keyboard).
The combination of the two means you’ll be perfectly supported by the armrests and avoid shoulder problems.
The Empire Gaming Racing 700 Gaming Chair is pretty plain!
Depending on the colors you choose, for example in its black version, I find it very pretty and easy to match.
However, there’s something for every taste in the red version, which stands out much more, or the white version…
You can easily and safely add a touch of “pep” to your environment.
And all without the risk of tastelessness, as its two-tone design makes it a perfect all-rounder.
As for its shape, like most gaming chairs, it’s a bucket-shaped seat with the look of a sports car.
The brand logo is featured on the top of the backrest, and depending on the color you choose, you’ll notice that the wheel colors will change too.
Clearly, they’ve got an eye for detail, as we’ll see later for the cushions too.
The purpose of imitation upholstery is to avoid the colossal costs of a chair made with real leather.
After all, imitation doesn’t mean bad.
There are some very good imitation leathers, even better than some low-end leathers such as pigskin, which is a very irregular and cheap leather.
What about imitation leather?
Broadly speaking, it’s well made.
Although I find it a little thin, but it’s better to have a little good material than a lot of bad.
There’s no risk of it chipping.
It’s been treated to be stain and water resistant.
So if you do get a stain on it, you’ll be able to remove it quickly with a micro-fiber cloth and a milk-based lotion.
Compared to fabric, which has the advantage of being easily washable (and breathable)…
Here you get the benefits of imitation AND fabric at the same time.
If you spend a lot of hours in your chair…
You’ll really appreciate the lumbar cushion.
By positioning itself at the curvature of your back, it…
Respect the curve of your back and avoid the backache you might feel after sitting for a long time.
I find the neck cushion a little less useful, but…
It can be interesting for those who need support for their neck.
The first thing I noticed was that this is one of the few brands to emphasize the quality of their finishing and stitching.
So I had high expectations, and they’ve been met.
You can see the attention to detail, because the stitching is always the same color as the thing it’s connecting.
And that’s rare enough to note.
What’s more, they’re tight, dense and thick without any “play”.
The only problem I find with most gaming chairs, so I’ve stopped talking about them, is that…
The plastic piece that hides the screws always looks “cheap”.
They’re sturdy (and for that matter, they’re pretty big), fluid and won’t damage the floor.
For those of you in the habit of buying new castors only to change them…
I think you could actually gain in fluidity by doing this, but…
I’m not sure that the difference will be really obvious, so it’s really up to you to judge according to your needs.
With a tilt of up to 180° (which is the maximum I’ve seen so far), you’ll be able to angle your chair into a reclining position.
I’m not 100% sure how useful it will always be to be in a reclining position on a chair, but…
What I can say for sure is that you won’t be short of angles with a chair that can be oriented up to 180°.
You can adjust the chair according to the situation, for reading, watching a film, or just because you particularly like this or that angle.
The fact that it’s so tilted earns it a lot of points! Even the noblechairs don’t have such a good tilt!
There are several options just below the chair.
On the right-hand side, you can raise/lower the chair by pushing the small lever up or down.
If you push it to the right or left, it will lock or unlock the toggle mechanism we’ve talked about.
On the underside of the seat there’s a kind of “round” that lets you adjust the resistance of the rocking mechanism to suit your weight.
On the side of the armrests you have a knob to adjust their height, and finally, on the side of your backrest, you have something to adjust the inclination of the chair’s backrest.
It’s particularly easy to assemble, and the instructions are very complete and well explained.
I even found a whole bunch of videos on youtube explaining how to assemble it (if, like me, you don’t really want to bother with instructions…).
I think you’d like to hear other opinions than mine.
So I asked myself what other users thought.
Well, the great advantage of the Empire Gaming 700 is its modularity.
Very tall people (over 1m90) as well as rather short people feel perfectly at ease on this chair.
The quality of the seat and the comfort of the chair come up very often, as does the beauty of its design.
The seat and backrest are much talked-about in that they remain comfortable even after long hours of sitting.
The cushions supplied with the chair are said to be rather soft and very comfortable, a real bonus for comfort.
Last but not least, the castors are praised for their silence and fluidity of movement while maintaining stability.
There’s the IWMH, with height-adjustable armrests vs. 2D.
Its backrest swivels up to 135° vs 180°, the maximum weight is 135kg vs 120kg, and both have high-density foam.
So I wouldn’t recommend it if you can afford the gaming 700 empire.
Read the Intimate WM Heart Racing review.
The Arozzi Enzo, which has fixed vs. 2D armrests, the backrest is non-rotating vs. up to 180°, the maximum weight is 105kg vs. 120kg.
I don’t think I can recommend it either, as the Empire Gaming 700 is much better.
Read my review of the Arozzi Enzo.
The Arozzi Verona Pro V2 is another step upmarket, but it still can’t compete with the gaming empire 700, so I wouldn’t recommend it either (ditto for the Arozzi Verona V2).
Its armrests are only height-adjustable vs. 2D, its backrest only swivels up to 135°, its maximum weight is 135kg vs. 120kg and both have high-density foam.
Read the Arozzi Verona Pro V2 review.
The 700 gaming empire wanted to promise us a high-end quality chair, while remaining accessible to even the smallest budgets.
I think the attempt has been a great success: it’s still affordable and…
2D armrests, quality foam, good castors and even a metal cross leg!
