5. Matomo

Matomo is an open source web analytics platform.

A web analytics platform is used by a website owner to…

Measure, collect, analyze and report visitor data in order to understand and optimize their website.

If you’d like to see what Matomo looks like, you can access a demo version at: https://demo.matomo.cloud

Matomo is used to analyze site visitor behavior in order to identify :

  • potential pitfalls
  • pages not found
  • search engine indexing problems
  • most popular content…

Once the data has been processed (number of visitors reaching a page not found, viewing only one page…),

Matomo generates reports for website owners so they can take action, e.g. modify page layouts, publish fresh content… etc.

Matomo processes the following personal data:

  • Anonymized ip address (the last two bytes are removed, making the ip address anonymous)
  • Date and time
  • Title of page viewed
  • URL of page currently being viewed
  • URL of page viewed before current page
  • Screen resolution
  • Time in local time zone
  • Files clicked and downloaded
  • Links clicked to external domain
  • Time of page generation
  • Country, region, city
  • Main browser language
  • Browser user agent

Matomo’s processing of personal data is based on legitimate interests.

The processing of your personal data helps me to identify what works and what doesn’t on my website.

For example, it helps me to determine whether the way I communicate is attractive or not and how I can best organize the structure of the website.

I benefit from the processing of your personal data, and act directly on the website.

By processing your personal data, you benefit from a constantly improving website.

Without the data, I would not be able to provide you with the service I currently offer.

Your data will only be used to improve the user experience on my website and to help you find the information you are looking for.

In addition, I don’t use google analytics like most websites, but matomo which is much more privacy oriented and protective.

Personal data received by Matomo is sent to: me and me only.

Matomo data is hosted in France.
