Clearly, Secretlab didn’t beat about the bush with its superman model.
The aim was to make the best chair, with the best materials, finishes, with an excellent superman design.
For the record, the brand was launched in 2014 by two semi-pro players.
They then had the idea of launching a brand of chairs, but maximizing all settings.
And voila, their chair was born.
And they’re not kidding, they’re behind a bunch of patent applications, and Secretlab chairs are getting rave reviews.
Anyway, let’s get to the heart of the matter, and read on carefully from now on!

Well, it’s only for you if you spend your life on the computer, so…
It’s perfect if you spend 5+ hours gaming or working, you’ll have everything you need and it’s a very high-end chair.
So if you spend 30mn-1h on the computer, I don’t think you’ll be able to afford such an expensive chair.
Aim for a gaming chair costing less than €200.
Nevertheless, it’s a great chair with all the ergonomics you need (I’ll tell you more about it later in the article).
Size-wise, it’s very well suited to all body sizes:
It’s excellent because it’s one of the few brands to offer so many variations for so many different sizes.
It’s a must-have because it means you won’t have knees knocking against the seat, a backrest to suit your size, and so on.

The cold foam used by Secretlab is not just any foam.
But what’s so special about it? You might ask.
It’s made to be used, and to last.
It won’t end up as flat as Homer Simpson’s sofa after a few years’ use.
So it’s a real investment that will last you many years.
You think about it once, you buy, and that’s it.
Secondly, the seat is quite firm.
Which is great, because even when you’re sitting funny with your foot under your bottom, you’ll never feel the structure of the chair.
What’s more, firmness is good for your back.
But where it surpasses itself is that it’s designed to distribute your weight as evenly as possible across the chair.
Basically, it relieves your whole body of tension and pressure.
So you can sit even longer, without suffering.
Frankly, I used to sit badly and change position a lot, but now I can finally sit properly without slouching.
Side cheeks are the little “ribs” that stick out from your chair.
You see, a normal office chair has a flat back, while a chair with side cheeks has sides that stick out a little.
This is what helps to hold you in place and conform to the shape of your body.
The trouble is, sometimes it’s overdone and more disturbing than anything else.
In this case, I liked it a lot, I feel supported, but without feeling totally compressed.
As for the seat, they have their own specific “pebble” design.
You’ve probably already had the sensation of sliding forward in your chair, haven’t you?
And end up sitting totally awkwardly at the end of the day?
Well, that’s why they’ve created a pebble-shaped seat.
Basically, there’s a little curvature on the seat, and this little curvature will guide your body towards the center of the seat (and more towards the front).
I really liked it and it really works.
What’s more, since I chose the right size, I can sit properly at the bottom of the seat AND without slipping.
People, if you’re going to be playing for a long time and therefore sitting for a long time, you need a quality tilting mechanism.
It’s very important not to tire your back too quickly and also to preserve blood circulation in your legs…
However, there are several types of rocking mechanism.
Fortunately for you, one of the best and most suitable for long use is the off-center rocker mechanism.
To put it simply, the rocking action takes place at knee level (hence the off-center name), allowing you to keep your feet on the ground while rocking.
This keeps the blood circulating in your legs, and prevents “heavy legs”.
But it also…
It prevents you from pulling too hard on your hips, so for those of you with hip pain, it’s excellent.
Well, you can always block it (it’s adjustable) if you don’t like it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
A Class 4 gas spring is the ultimate in durability/strength and climbing power.
Basically, it won’t break, and you won’t have to suffer a “jerky” rise from your chair.
Where they’ve really got it right, however, is that the cylinder is smaller than a normal one.
So for those who tend not to touch the floor, that’s clearly taken care of.
(And touching the ground is ultra-important if you don’t want to end up with blue legs).
In short, ergo-wise, it’s the best!
The entire structure of the chair (what’s under the foam) is made of metal.
This is excellent, as it’s both durable and lightweight, making it easy to move around (which is important for a chair).
However, its greatest asset is the aluminum base (where you attach the castors).
An aluminum base can withstand pressures of up to 1 ton.
Go ahead and break that…
It’s the strongest material (as well as being very aesthetic).
Nylon < metal < aluminum for the chair base!
We could have stopped there and said “that’s enough”, but no…
What’s more, they’ve specially adapted it so that the chair is perfectly stable.
In short, it doesn’t move a bit, and even when tilted, it remains super-stable, with no risk of falling backwards (unless you do it on purpose).
Yet another top setting: 4D armrests!
Basically, they’re adjustable in 4 dimensions, and let me explain right away:
The top-to-bottom adjustment will allow you to align them perfectly with your desk, and set them so that they form a 90° angle with your elbows.
This will relieve your shoulders of unnecessary strain.
Secondly, as every gamer is unique, the armrests can also be adjusted in width.
So whether you’re massive or a twig, they’ll fit your shoulders perfectly!
They’re also adjustable from front to back, so you can move a little closer to your desk, or further back.
Basically, it’s easy to adapt to your position.
Finally, they’re angle-adjustable.
I love this, because when you’re playing, you’ve probably already noticed that your arms aren’t “straight” but inclined.
Well, this will allow you to tilt them to the same angle as your arms, which is much more pleasant and, above all, useful!
Secondly, each armrest is upholstered in super-soft polyurethane leather, so it’s pleasant to use and doesn’t hurt your elbows.
And best of all, if you ever feel like changing, they also offer armrests (changeable in 20 seconds).
The extra armrests are made of technogel, the same gel used in hospitals.
Basically, it regulates your body temperature better and adapts better to your shape too.
It’s not a must-have feature, but if you’ve got the money, it’s a nice touch.
If you’re here, it’s because you’re a big Superman fan.
Or you just love the colors and the overall look!
I must confess that what I really like are the colors, the design and the aesthetics of the chair.
It’s made in a beautiful blue, with the Superman logo (the S) right in the middle.
The sides are red (still in the exact Superman tones and colors).
But as long as you’re buying Secretlab, you’re not buying a random Superman-stamped product with colors that barely resemble each other.
No, it’s just the right font, the right colors, and there are even little details for the most discerning connoisseurs.
I also really like the effect of the “gray” on the back, which looks a bit like reinforced “armor”.
In short, it’s a really cool design that’s sure to please anyone who loves DC Comics.
Last but not least, I love the fact that since the headrest is magnetized, there’s no big hole right in the middle of the top of the backrest, which is super aesthetic.
PS: If you ever want to change the design of your chair, you can treat yourself to a Secretlab skin.
The advantage of Neo Hybrid leatherette is its premium appearance compared to fabric.
Secondly, Secretlab’s coating is designed to be 12 times more durable than basic pu leather.
They even say it’s as tough as animal skin.
And frankly, I think it’s true, because I’ve had my Secretlab chair for a while now and it hasn’t moved a muscle.
Whereas on some chairs, the imitation leather ends up totally cracked.
And the reason they’re so confident is that they test all their upholstery by putting it through an extensive battery of reviews.
They’ve even obtained international certificates for their strength and durability.
Maintenance is optional, but you can use the products they supply, such as Secretlab Premium Leather Cleaner (suitable for the Superman chair).
But frankly, you can also use a baby cream (see mixa?).
That’s okay too!
Now that’s a real pleasure.
From a practical point of view, the magnetized headrest respects and reproduces the natural curvature of your neck.
This is essential to avoid neck pain and musculoskeletal disorders over time.
However, its greatest asset is that it’s magnetized.
It’s really great not to have the elastic band around the cushion anymore, because it moves around and limits positions.
The magnetism is really powerful and it holds well, allowing you to put it at YOUR height and just the way YOU want it.
What’s more, to further enhance your comfort, it’s also been infused with cooling gel (which thermoregulates, so you won’t be intensely hot in summer).
Next, my personal favorite is the integrated lumbar support.
This is the only brand to offer integrated lumbar support, adjustable in both height and volume.
The quersus brand of gaming chairs, for example, also offers integrated lumbar support, but it’s not height-adjustable…
This is great, because not only do you not have to worry about putting the cushion back on 36 times a day, but it’s integrated and fully adjustable.
And that’s really important, because as you’ve probably already noticed, there’s a natural curve at the bottom of your back.
And if you don’t reproduce this little curve when you’re sitting down, you won’t last very long…
And your lower back will hurt.
As you can see, Secretlab’s finishes are excellent.
For example, even the screw covers are magnetized…
So you won’t have a random piece of plastic to screw on, but a nice magnetic cover to place to hide the screws on the sides that hold the backrest.
It’s truly amazing how little they’ve left to chance.
What’s more, there’s no protruding material, nothing, everything is calibrated to the centimeter.
They’ve even added an NFC certificate to verify the originality of your product (that it’s not counterfeit).
And as for the seams, you guessed it, they’re nice and even, neither too tight nor too heavy, and the thread is top-quality.
First of all, the fact that they’re XL castors is a very good thing, as they’re much less fragile than small castors.
As far as floors are concerned, they roll well on my tiles and are even very fluid.
The only fault is on the lino in my bedroom, but all the chairs have a hard time on my lino.
Otherwise, they don’t hold dust very well (being a perfectionist, this really bothered me on some chairs).
And so as not to damage your floors, there are even little protective strips on each castor!
On the other hand, I didn’t give it 5 stars because the backrest reclines “only” up to 165°, while some chairs can recline up to 180°.
Nevertheless, it’s not necessarily a bad thing, because 165° already gives you a nice tilt, and unless you’re planning to sleep in your chair (I’m not judging), it won’t be much use to you.
In any case, it’s great for watching a movie, because sitting all day can get annoying, and you’ll soon want to change position.
So the tilt helps perfectly for that.
Once you’re seated, it’ll also enable you to find the position that suits you best.
For example, a 90° backrest is not very comfortable.
NASA has already carried out several reviews, and the ideal position would be around 130°!
Then, what I also like is that they even have a little locking system (so that the reclining lever doesn’t work) in case you have children who might get behind.
Not much use if you’re a single gamer with no kids, though!
Under the seat, on the right-hand side, you’ll find a lever for raising/lowering the chair.
On the left-hand side, you’ll find a lever that locks/unlocks the chair’s tilt mechanism.
Beneath the seat, you’ll find a large wheel for adjusting the tension of the tilting mechanism (to be set according to your weight).
To the right of the backrest, you’ll find a lever that lets you change the inclination of the backrest.
Then, to the left, there’s a wheel for adjusting the height of the lumbar support.
The wheel on the right adjusts the volume of support.
The armrests can be adjusted using the knobs on top (the outer one for raising/lowering, the one at the end of each armrest for angles, and the inner knob for width).
You can also adjust the armrests from top to bottom, by pressing the piece of metal that protrudes from the outside of each one.
And you can adjust them in angle and forwards and backwards by pressing the small metal button at the end of each armrest, then pressing the button on the inner side in the middle of each armrest, to adjust the width.
Assembly will take 10-20 minutes, because most of the screws are already in place and the assembly guide is very well explained.
And if you’re a little lazy, you can scan the QR Code and go straight to the assembly video!
Otherwise, the packaging is top-notch, very sturdy and… Did you know… They’ve even tested the packaging to make sure it’s sturdy!
So wherever you are, your parcel is very unlikely to have any problems.

As much as I don’t know what their desks are worth and don’t really care, their chairs have quite a reputation…
