The Songmics OBG62B is designed for gamers and teleworkers.

If you’re looking for a good deal on a comfortable chair with good value for money, you’ve come to the right place!

The brand’s aim is to offer items that help improve your daily life, at affordable prices.

Their trump card is that they don’t spend inordinate amounts on marketing, so you can still get good value for money.

Now, follow me through this review, because I’m going to tell you all about the OBG62B in depth!

And I can already tell you that my description of it is going to be comprehensive!

Suitable for which profile?

If you’re looking for a comfortable chair that…

Allows you to sit for longer periods of time so you can play on your computer/work to your heart’s content, at an affordable price.

It’s well suited to 3-4h gaming sessions on your computer or console, but…

If you’re the kind of person who likes to sit for 6+ hours, I’d refer you to my review of the Secretlab Titan Evo, which you can find here, or to my ranking of the best songmics gaming chairs, which you can also find here.

In terms of body shape, this is the chair for you if you’re between 1.50 and 1.90 m tall.

The headrest is particularly high on this office chair…

And if you weigh no more than 150kg.

Armchair with high-density foam

The most surprising thing about the songmics OBG62B is that it features high-density anti-deformation foam.

It’s the ultimate in comfort and durability, because high-density foam means your chair will last longer, and best of all…

It will always return to its original shape when you let it rest!

It’s the ultimate in ergonomics.

What’s more, they’ve padded the seat with 10cm of sponge padding!

You’ll be sitting like a cloud.

The only flaw is that they don’t specify the density of the foam, just that it’s high-density.

Side cheeks present but not too much

Another of its features is the side cheeks (the curves on the backrest and seat) which are not too pronounced!

So it’s perfect for those who like to be free in their movements when seated, and for many larger people!

Tilts from 90 to 110°

The adjustable tilting mechanism allows tilting from 90 to 110°…

Great for long play or work sessions…

This is what makes it an ergonomic seat, and when you use the rocker, you’ll notice that it keeps its stability very well!

The rocker takes the strain off your back muscles, so you can sit longer and play in better conditions!

Well-built gas springs

Once again, they’re not being very transparent, which means they’re losing points.

They didn’t specify the class of the gas spring.

Nevertheless, it’s still a good cylinder with good spring force and will very easily hold up over time and raise/lower the chair.

However, I couldn’t pass up the fact that they didn’t specify the cylinder’s class.

Steel skeleton, plastic foot cross

The steel skeleton will make the songmics obg62b racing tough and durable over time, as I’m sure you know…

Steel is strong!

However, a common feature of virtually all gaming seats is that the foot cross is made of plastic.

It’s a little less sturdy, but it’s pretty rare to break a cross-leg, especially as it looks cheap.

Armrests can be folded down

Although the armrests aren’t adjustable in height or any other way (which is normal for this price range)…

You’ll still be able to fold them down (which is a rarity).

Which is great, because it’s easier to store and takes up less space on your desk.

And if you ever need space or need to hold something in your hands, like a musical instrument or a joystick…

You won’t be bothered by the space they take up!

PS: Plus, they’re padded.

Design mi-gaming mi-bureau

Although the OBG62B is a gaming chair with a bucket seat design…

Its sober appearance places it halfway between the very assertive sports style and the more sober office style.

Perfect for those looking for an office chair with a less pronounced look!

So it’s easy to place in a setup, office or teenager’s bedroom.

My only regret is that it’s only available in black.

Covering: PU leather

The great thing about polyurethane leather is that it’s easy to clean and maintain.

It looks good, and in this case it’s made of mesh, which means it has ventilation holes.

What are the air holes for?

They correct the one big flaw:

In summer, it makes you sweat excessively, but thanks to the ventilation holes, you’ll enjoy a comfortable, dry summer.

As for durability, it holds up well over time and won’t flake off, provided you take good care of it (brushing from time to time)!

No free cushions... But

Some office chairs offer a neck cushion and a lumbar cushion, but not this one.

Why did I put a “but?

It’s because the chair already includes a headrest by default, and…

If you look at the rounded shape of the chair’s lower back, you’ll see that it already reshapes the natural curvature of the lumbar vertebrae!

So there’s no need for cushions.

Good stitching and finish

The seams are applied, close together, neither too tight nor too loose, and are even.

What’s more, the thread is the same color as the material being sewn, which is often a very good sign.

However, the finishing touches are sometimes just “right”: the paint is good, but…

Sometimes it could have been better in certain places, and the same goes for the imitation leather, which has creases in “technical” places (the two holes under the headrest).

Good wheels

The castors are also well made, and will hold up well over time, and if ever, which is rare enough to be worth mentioning…

Spare wheels are supplied with screws, just in case!

In terms of glide, you’re on a “normal” glide, which is what you’d expect from a chair.

In other words, you’ll be able to roll along on them, but they’re not at the level of “roller” wheels (which is to be expected).

They’re made of polyurethane and don’t make any noise or leave any marks on the floor.

Fixed backrest

Except for the tilting mechanism, which allows tilting from 90° to 110°, it’s fixed and can’t be tilted.

This isn’t a big deal, since the tilt mechanism is really “THE” mechanism to have.

But you should know that there are other recliners that can be tilted, like the Furgle.

Settings at your fingertips

Each armrest can be adjusted directly by moving it.

The lever on the underside of the seat can be moved up and down to adjust the height of the chair.

Pulling this same lever activates/deactivates the tilting mechanism.

This is a swivel chair, so you can turn it 360°!

Finally, the wheel under the seat allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the tilt mechanism.

Easy to assemble

It’s easy to assemble.

However, I’d recommend two people for the top of the seat, as it’s a bit technical to assemble, but apart from that 20 minutes will be enough!

Other users' opinions

For you, I’ve put together what I’ve found on the internet to give you even more opinions.

One thing that comes up time and time again is the ease with which it can be assembled in less than 30 minutes.

The design is really pretty and easy to match to your home.

The imitation leather is of high quality, but will tend to crack from rubbing after several years if you don’t take care of it.

The high-density, well-padded foam is long-lasting and provides a firm seat, which is great for your back.

Each armrest is independently adjustable (you can raise the right one and leave the left one as normal).

It’s a very good product, and it’s suitable even for tall people (1m85)!

Other possibilities to consider

tectake 402029.jpg

Tectake Seats are generally a little less good than this songmics model for the same budget.

What’s more, they offer the same settings (no cushion, tilting mechanism, fixed backrest, armrests sometimes not retractable at all, no high-density foam).

I’d only recommend them if you can afford the top-of-the-range Tectake version.

One of Che’s gaming chairs! It all depends on the model you choose, and the songmics is one of the top 5.

It’s the bargain of the top, and only the top 1 is better (but you’ll have to add the budget).

Read the top 5 cheapest gaming seats.

tresko gaming chair

The Tresko has fixed armrests, a fixed backrest (but also a tilting mechanism), no information on foam density and no cushions offered.

I’d only recommend it if money is the problem preventing you from buying the OBG62B.

Where can I buy the songmics OBG62B?

As a gamer, it’s hard to find a chair that will see you through long hours of gaming while remaining comfortable…

And at an affordable price.

The Songmics OBG62B, with its high-density foam, retractable armrests, rocking mechanism, padded seat, mesh pu leather upholstery and affordable price, is just the thing!

So if this sounds like you, I’d recommend this product.
