The Songmics RCG12W is one of the few chairs that won’t force you to break your piggy bank, while offering far more settings than its competitors!
The songmics RCG12W offers a good compromise between available settings, comfort and budget.
It also listens to its customers: if you have a problem, an advice or an opinion, you’ll be listened to and your opinion will be taken into account, and that’s rare.
The advantage with songmics is that they focus on quality, but without inflating prices with expensive marketing.
So you get what you pay for.

Backrest tilt, 2D armrests for you/them to enjoy the songmics rcg12w is a good choice.
Especially if you’re used to sitting for hours on end.
If you’re buying it for 10-30 minute use, save your money and go for a cheaper model, I’ve put together a list of the best budget gaming chairs.
However, in my opinion, the Songmics RG12W is the best songmics gaming chair (Top 1 in my ranking of the brand’s best chairs).
Physically, it can support up to 150kg and is great provided you’re no more than two meters tall.

The songmics rcg12w is equipped with breathable cold foam.
This type of foam is designed to be “open”, so it can breathe and absorb moisture more easily than hot foams.
This is very good news, as it also prevents the foam from sagging.
You’ve probably had a chair where, after a while, the foam was completely flattened.
Thanks to this system, you won’t have this kind of problem, and you’ll be able to enjoy comfortable foam.
I did, however, take off a few stars because I couldn’t find the exact density of the foam.
However, I’d like to point out that I’m really quibbling, since it says it’s high-resilience foam, i.e. over 28kg/m3…
Which is already very good for a durable foam.
The thing I love about sports cars is the support: you’re sitting really well in the seat and feel even better than in an armchair.
Thanks to its side bolsters (slightly curved backrest and slightly raised seat), you’ll be as well supported as in a luxury car.
Which is a significant comfort benefit!
What means you’ll last longer than on a “normal” chair is that it has a rocking mechanism.
So the chair, especially the backrest, will follow your movements, rather than being blocked like a garden or lounge chair.
You can lock/unlock this setting without any problem, but…
I recommend that you don’t block the rocking mechanism, as it serves to relieve pressure on the back.
Most gaming chairs have a class 4 gas strut, which ensures both its solidity and, above all, the chair’s spring force.
How easily it can go up and down.
What I like about the songmics rcg12w is that the gas spring has been reviewed by TÜV Rheinland and given a positive rating.
It’s a little plus that shows they care about their customers.
So you’ll have a chair that holds up well over time, thanks to an actuator with good up/down force and solidity.
There are gaming chairs costing twice as much as this one, yet made from materials far less resistant than steel.
This is a very good point if you’re looking for a solid chair, especially as it’s very rare in this price range.
I often see people complaining about other chairs that they break the cross leg…
Go and break a steel cross leg!
You’ll be able to adjust your armrests from top to bottom and from bottom to top, so you can perfectly adjust the armrests to your waist, where your elbows will be at a 90° angle.
This is the most ergonomic position, and one in which your shoulders can be relaxed to avoid shoulder pain.
Finally, the armrest orientation adjustment (the armrests swivel and rotate) lets you adjust your armrests to the angle of your mouse or keyboard.
Which makes life a whole lot easier and more comfortable.
Because on 1D chairs, the armrests stay straight, but who types on the keyboard with straight elbows?
Who plays the console with straight elbows?
Nobody, that’s who.
Simple and effective, there aren’t many colors available, but…
They’re sober and will adapt easily to your set-up.
I personally prefer the white color, which looks less sad than gray.
The curves are well defined and represent a sports car bucket seat.
The songmics logo is embroidered on the top of the chair back, and also on the cushions.
This shows a certain attention to detail.
Polyurethane leather (which is leather crust coated with polyurethane) is of the highest quality…
It doesn’t tear, and has been specially treated to resist wear and tear.
The big advantage of this material is that it’s not fragile, easy to wash and requires no special maintenance.
Your package includes a lumbar cushion.
This increases your comfort while preserving your back, because the cushion allows you to obtain the natural curvature of your back.
It’s good that it’s a cushion, because you can place it exactly at the curve of your back (which is not in the same place, depending on your size).
The same goes for the cushion, which can be placed at the curve of your neck.
It’s a real plus for preserving your body over the long term, and also for feeling better when you’re sitting, by avoiding pain.
As for the stitching, I think we could have done a bit better.
The stitches themselves are clean, neither too tight nor too loose.
However, when the seams aren’t the same color as the material they’re sewing, it’s usually a sign of a cheap finish.
So they’re not bad in themselves, and don’t worry, they won’t jump off in a snap, but…
EXCEPT IF it’s deliberate and to make a “style” it would have been much better if the thread was the same color as the chair.
As for the wheels, I know that some of you like wheels that glide like rollerblades.
If you’re one of those people, you won’t be very happy with the glide.
For the others, you probably won’t particularly notice the difference: they roll, they don’t catch, but…
You’re not going to go 10 meters if you push yourself off your desk.
In terms of sturdiness, they can withstand loads of up to 150kg, so there’s no question of their durability.
You can rotate the backrest up to 135° to find the position that suits you best, or…

All adjustments are at your fingertips: you can adjust the backrest tilt via a lever on the side of the chair.
The armrests via the knob on the outside of each armrest.
The tilting mechanism via the lever on the underside of the chair. If you pull it towards you or in the opposite direction, you lock/unlock the tilting mechanism.
If you pull it up or down, you raise/lower the chair.
Finally, the knob on the underside of the chair lets you adjust the hardness of the rocking mechanism to suit your weight.
Perfect for preventing the chair from rocking too much if you’re too heavy, or not enough if you’re too light.
It will take an average of 30 minutes to assemble, or even less if you’re efficient.

As far as consumers are concerned, one of the things they often say about this chair…
The after-sales service is very responsive, and even if you don’t want to use it, well, if you do…
They’ll meet your expectations and have a very good reputation.
The sturdiness of the chair also comes up very often, and it has to be said that this is understandable with a steel skeleton and a steel cross leg.
Assembly is generally very easy to do, and indeed I have to say that most gaming chairs are easy to assemble anyway.
The seat and backrest have plenty of feedback to mean they’re hard.
Nevertheless, don’t let appearances fool you: firmness is one of the best things you can do to avoid back pain.
Finally, even if the recommended size is up to 2 meters…
It would seem that smaller sizes are particularly well served, so you’ll be sitting comfortably.
The Akracing nitro also has 2D armrests, but features a backrest that can be rotated up to 180° vs. 135° for the songmics rcg12w, and high-density 50-55kg/m3 foam, so the maximum weight is the same on both chairs.
Ideal if you’re on a budget and want to move upmarket.

The Arozzi Verona V2 has adjustable armrests only in 1D vs 2D for the songmics, high resilience foam too, a maximum weight of 135kg vs 150kg and a backrest that reclines slightly more, up to 145° vs 135° for the songmics.
I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it – it’s better quality, but you lose a lot in terms of functionality and sturdiness.

The Fauteuil Langria armrests are not adjustable vs 2D, the backrest does not swivel vs 135°, the maximum weight is 120kg vs 150kg for the rcg12w.
The only advantages are the footrest and the possibility of reclining the chair. Would I recommend it over the rcg12w? No.
